If you’ve ever felt like your mind is running in ten different directions, meditation is one of the simplest ways to slow everything down. You don’t need experience, flexibility, or any special mindset—just a willingness to sit for a few minutes and breathe.

The benefits show up quickly.

Less Stress, More Calm — Even one session can help quiet the nervous system. Most people notice they feel lighter, clearer, and less wound-up afterward.

Better Focus — Meditation trains your brain to stay present. Over time, tasks feel easier, you’re less forgetful, and you spend less energy going in circles mentally.

Better Sleep — A calmer mind makes drifting off easier. Many beginners report that meditation helps settle nighttime restlessness.

More Emotional Balance — Meditation gives you a tiny bit of space before reacting. That space makes it easier to respond instead of snapping, worrying, or spiraling.

A Weekly Reset — Coming to a class creates a routine: one hour a week that’s just for you—no phone, no demands, no multitasking. Most people say it becomes their favourite part of the week.

You Don’t Have to “Be Good” at It — Everyone starts as a beginner, and the class guides you through everything. There’s no pressure to sit perfectly still or “empty your mind.” It’s simply learning to be more at ease.

Our weekly classes are designed for everyone—no previous experience needed. Each session includes simple guided meditations and Buddha’s practical teachings you can carry into daily life. Bit by bit, you’ll learn how to create a more peaceful mind, improve your relationships, and find greater joy and balance.

Come as you are, leave refreshed and inspired.

About us

We are the Shuswap branch of Kadampa Meditation Centre Fraser Valley.

We hold weekly meditation classes in Salmon Arm. From time to time we hold classes in other Shuswap and Okanagan communities. Would you like a class in your community? Please ask and we will be happy to make that happen!

The Shuswap (named after Shuswap Lake) includes eight different communities: Chase, North Shuswap, Sicamous, Salmon Arm, Enderby, Falkland, South Shuswap, and Armstrong and Spallumcheen.

Our Thursday evening meditation Teacher is Mike Boudreau. He is a sincere and dedicated Kadampa practitioner, teacher, and volunteer. We are very fortunate to have him as our weekly teacher in Salmon Arm.

Our meditation classes are open to everyone. You can drop in to any class any time; pre-registration is not required. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to attend – everyone can benefit from these classes.

Each week there is a talk on a practical subject, 2 meditations, and time for questions. People find that they become more peaceful through attending these classes, and learn methods to deal with difficult situations and to find more happiness and meaning in their life.

Why not try a class!
